We Do Not Matter

We do not matter.
Your worries and mine;
They are destined to fade away.

No one-
Not even the so called visionaries-
Will make it.
For one day, all of humanity will be gone.
The forests, the roads, the homes.

The moments that haunt you in your sleep;
When you stuttered at the assembly,
The time when you were rejected from your crush,
When even your tears couldn't escape in solitude,
The time you saved that ant from drowning.

No-one will remember your straight A's
No-one will get to know your long lines of luxury cars
Or your insanely large bank balance.
We try not to think of this
Because when we do,
We become hollow inside.

Because then,
We are just insignificant specks of life
In an intensely significant world.
